Come celebrate getting your taxes off to Uncle Sam and hear of a fantastic voyage by local yachtsman, Sam Landsman, who cruised to Alaska and back on his 22-foot craft (one of his give Alaska cruises thus far.) This is reminiscent of our own John Sterry’s remarkable first voyage on his 19-footer back in his early yachting days, transiting Kirkland to Vancouver, BC and back, with nothing more than a compass and a Washington road map. But, as they say, that is another story for another day.]
Sam is co-owner of Slowboat (www.slowboat.com), a local group committed to boating, adventuring, and helping others fulfill their cruising dreams. He’s a past editor of the Waggoner Cruising Guide, lives aboard his Nordic 37 tug, and has five current “jobs” posted on his Linked In page. He’s got a lot going on, and promises to be very entertaining in describing his trip to Alaska on a very small boat.
Another special treat at this month’s meeting will be a set of barbershop quartet numbers, sung for us just before dinner by Chris Powell and his mates, who are preparing for upcoming barbershop competitions. We get to be their first audience of the year~!
We plan to continue having everyone be seated by 6:45, so come early for drinks and informal catching up. This approach allows us to finish the formal dinner meeting a bit earlier (8:30 is the target) so more members on tight schedules can still attend and enjoy the whole meeting.
